I thought I put this one up but must have forgot. At Keukenhof there was walk of fame and well The Lion King has there own flower!!! ballin!!!
As many of you know by now in the Netherlands it is Essential to own a bike. A bike here is like a car in the States. On any day I see people commuting to work, taking there kids to school ect. The Dutch have truly mastered Bike transportation. There are no need for buses for schools ( might have them but I have yet to see one) kids ride there bikes to school and if they go anywhere then everyone gets on there bikes. If the kids are really little they have trailers that are pulled by bike that fit about ten kids. They have also mastered fitting the most people on one bike comfortably.
I have learned that there are many attachments that you can add to ones bike that I never knew of. Adding a half basket to the front of your bike ( shaped like an L) can serve 2 purposes 1) somewhere to put your bags or anything else you might want to carry on your bike 2) it can serve as a chair. The second thing would is a flat metal piece that is located behind the bike seat. This serves many purposes it is normally used as a second seat but outer possibilities is to prop a table on the back and hold it with one hand and then bike with the other. There are also saddle bags and other assortment of things that one can get for your bike.
Another thing that I have learned is that the weather is so temperamental here it can rain about ten times a day! Sometimes it even hails but that hasn’t happened in a while. So what do you do when it starts to sprinkle PEDDLE FASTER!! This is Mother’s Natures way of being its going to rain on your head …. or maybe it won’t. Cause here it could sprinkle for the next five hours or it could start to poor in the next five. I’d rather not get caught in the latter especially if I am on my way to class and not coming back.
This is Koninginnnedag in Amsterdam but it is a great example of what the canals looked all around Groningen as well.
I will officially say that summer has FINALLY come to Groningen! The last two days I have be in nothing but skirts and shorts…. right now it’s heaven! Ryan Air is being frustrating and lame!!! Will not take my card! silly silly! Other than that I will hopefully get to see Tara soonish may not be as soon as I had hoped but I for sure will make it out to her.
Since Rome I haven’t really had time to do much traveling. With Queens day and then another class starting that same week while two were finishing up its been quite busy for me. Emma and I were able to go on a trip to Keukenhof the famous tulip garden not too far away from Amsterdam. But let me catch you up with the last few weeks.
After Queens day the weather has be temperamental but over all it is getting much better the last two days it has been sunny and warm all day. Lets start with my Birthday. last Monday was my Birthday which was a very very long but good day. I didn’t end up doing much celebrating that night instead We ( the house family) celebrated on Thursday night instead. Anyway that morning I had to wake up and get ready for a presentation that two of my group members and I would be presenting in front of a panel of upper Shell Management. We were up against two other groups and the panel would pick the group that was the best. Well our presentation went well other than the fact that I had double clicked and missed a slide but by the time I realized it was to late to go back. The good thing nobody noticed it SCORE!! We ended up receiving truffles just for presenting and then my Group also won so we received stuff from Shell as well. Which I thought was Pretty DANG COOOL!!!! After the panel I went and studied for a exam that I had that Wednesday and then went to my finance class. So I left my house at 830 and didn’t get back till almost 8. Needless to say I was tired but I was able to hitch a ride on the back of my friends bike back home ( I had taken the bus in the morning). Which was the first time for we and it was sooooo much fun you get to look behind you!!! Got home ordered Pizza and had a Corona and made a wish over a cream puff!! yummmm. After that I was in bed I could not keep my eyes open for another minute.
Last Sunday Emma and I went to Keukenhof which was like a fairy tail and I will have more pictures up of that day soon. This weekend I will be flying to Madrid for the weekend and hopefully will see Tara on SUNDAY!!!! So excited about that one. After that Berlin to visit and old friend and then the rents will be in town. After that only a Month till I’m back State side CRAZY!!
love Ya’ll
Okay so since Queensnight is so hard to actually explain here is a short clip to show you how crazy the night actually gets and may I remind you that this is Just one of the 4 concerts that was in Groningen.
